WEBSTER, Texas – (August 7, 2024) – Singer, songwriter, actress and Houston native, Kelly Rowland, joined Great Wolf Resorts Chief Executive Officer, John Murphy, this morning for the official grand opening of Great Wolf Lodge Texas Gulf Coast in Webster, Texas.  The new Houston-area lodge reflects a significant evolution of the Great Wolf Lodge experience, and represents the company’s first “next generation” lodge where elaborate theming and technological advances are used to deliver an immersive resort experience filled with an incredible array of family adventures.

The new Texas resort is the 21^st in North America for the family entertainment and indoor water park resort brand, and features 532 family-friendly suites, an expansive 92,000 square-foot indoor water park, a 61,000 square-foot adventure park and a collection of eateries and retail offerings all under one roof.  In addition to the overall thematic elements, the Houston-area resort also features several firsts for the Great Wolf Lodge brand including a new water-coaster slide element, a regional exclusive family raft adventure called Texas Twirler, an exhilarating new ropes course featuring a zipline style experience and new virtual reality attraction where players will enter the realm of Vellara from the resort’s popular, interactive MagiQuest game.

Great Wolf Lodge Texas Gulf Coast represents an investment of more than $200 million by Great Wolf Lodge’s shareholders, Blackstone and Centerbridge Partners, and has already generated more than 675 full and part-time direct jobs at the resort.  The resort anchors the city of Webster’s expansive Flyway entertainment district and will be a significant draw for families from Houston, Galveston, Austin and San Antonio.  

The grand opening festivities included a charitable moment where Great Wolf Lodge challenged singer, songwriter, actress and Houstonian, Kelly Rowland, to test ride the water-slides with her kids as a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Houston.  Great Wolf Lodge offered a $1,500 donation for each slide Rowland and her two sons tested, and they ended up conquering all 13 slides featured at the indoor water park, resulting in a $20,000 donation to the local Boys & Girls Club.

“The Boys & Girls Club does such great work supporting children across the greater Houston area, and I was excited that Great Wolf Lodge reached out with a fun way to give back to this incredible organization,” shared Rowland.  “It’s not often you get to spend a morning riding exciting water-slides with your kids while also helping a great cause.  I really think Houston families are going to love coming to this place.”

At Howler’s Peak, families will discover two aerial adventures – a ropes course where climbers will need to traverse across rope bridge, elevated passes and other obstacles and a harness-free adventure trail through an interactive tree-fort.  The ropes course features a new to Great Wolf indoor zipline element that stretches 150-feet in length and provides a panoramic view over the entire Adventure Park.

Every evening just before bedtime, families can gather in the Grand Lobby of Great Wolf Lodge Maryland for a multi-sensory immersive storytelling experience.  During The Legend of Luna show, the lobby magically transforms, using projection technology and special effects to tell an enchanting fable about a young wolf who longs to find her place in the world.
